An important biofunction of calcitriol is the regulation of bone metabolism, which ensures the stable presence of two important minerals - calcium and phosphorus - in bones, blood and throughout the body. In addition, calcitriol contributes to the normal absorption of phosphorus and calcium from the small intestine and is important component in the functioning of bones, muscles, teeth and the immune system.
